Arduino project is to make tools available that are accessible, low-cost, low capital investment, flexible and easy-to-use for artists and hobbyists, particularly those who might not otherwise have access to more sophisticated controllers that require more complicated tools.

A typical Arduino board carries the microcontroller, some digital and analogue I/O lines, and a serial or USB interface to a computer. This is used for both programming the board, and run-time interaction with the Arduino. Arduinos themselves can have networking facilities. Computer interfacing is simple, since the computer software may be written in a variety of languages.

Arduino can sense the environment by receiving input from a variety of sensors and can affect its surroundings by controlling lights, motors, and other actuators. The microcontroller on the board is programmed using the Arduino programming language (based on Wiring) and the Arduino development environment (based on Processing). Arduino projects can be stand-alone or they can communicate with software on running on a computer (e.g. Flash, Processing and MaxMSP).

Hardware:

An Arduino board consists of an 8-bit Atmel AVR microcontroller (e.g. ATmega8, ATmega168, ATmega328, and ATmega1280) with complementary components to facilitate programming and incorporation into other circuits.

The Best feature of an Arduino is that the microcontroller is also pre-programmed with a boot loader that simplifies uploading of programs to the on-chip flash memory, compared with other devices that typically need an external chip programmer.

At a conceptual level, when using the Arduino software stack all boards are programmed over an RS-232 serial connection, but the way this is implemented in hardware varies by version. Serial Arduino boards contain a simple inverter circuit to convert between RS-232-level and TTL-level signals. Current Arduino boards are programmed via USB, implemented using USB-to-serial adapter chips such as the FTDI FT232.

The Arduino board exposes most of the microcontroller’s I/O pins for use by other circuits. This can be used to support other functions of a microcontroller like Analog/Digital inputs, PWM signals etc.

Software:

The Arduino IDE is a cross-platform application written in Java which is derived from the IDE made for the Processing programming language and the Wiring project. It is designed to introduce programming to artists and other newcomers unfamiliar with software development. But in the workshop at PRÈVOYANCE, the interfacing with MATLAB, VB6 and .NET will be taught.

• Workshop includes Arduino Kit, Connectors, basic Sensors, Switches and LEDs.
• The Duration of the Workshop is 2 Days.
• The preferred timings are from 10 AM to 4 PM.
• All the Advanced Demos which are shown during the workshop are made using additional peripherals.
• All the coding samples used in workshop are provided to each student.

This is a Project Presentation Event. You can demonstrate your Hardware project and take away the prize.The abstract must be sent to us by 12th March, 2010 on omega@prevoyance.co.in. For more details, click on the event title.

• Tx-Rx:

Tune in to “TxRx”, the treasure hunt on AIR (quite literally). Build your Receiver and run through the institute listening to the Radio of your heart and trying to find different stations located throughout the campus. For more details, click on the event title.

General rules:

• Only registered students of Prèvoyance ’10 are allowed to participate.
• Maximum 3 participants per team.
• All participants are required to carry identity cards of their respective educational institutions.
• Decision of the judges will be final and binding.
• Rules are subject to change and will be displayed on the website and informed to the selected candidates through e-mail in the event of occurrence.
• Students from different institution are allowed to form a team.
• Violation of any of the above mentioned rules will lead to the disqualification of the team.

WEB-X-PERT

Web-X-Pert is a workshop on “Web Technologies & Web CMS” and a series of competition conceptualized by i3indya Technologies . It is going to be India’s first & biggest workshop series & competition based on Web Technologies & Web CMS.

It will be a 3 tier event.

The First round of this Mega event will include workshop to be delivered.

The Second round is a competition, based on the workshop.

In the Third round, Top two teams, selected from the second round will be called to compete in Web-X-Pert to be held at IIT Roorkee, COGNIZANCE ’10.

“A dream is not what we see when we sleep, but it is something which does not let you sleep.”

“A DREAM”….. A dream is where all this began. Yes, when we started we just had one thing with us “A DREAM”. A dream, a desire to tread new avenues, to do something never done before, awe-inspiring, heart thumping, amazing, adventurous and out of the world. This dream, after giving us many a sleepless night transformed into our passion which after humungous effort took the shape of a beautiful reality. This surreal reality was named “PRÈVOYANCE”. And just like every big reality, “PRÈVOYANCE” did not happen in one day or by luck and chance. Everyone spent hours discussing, planning, organising, brain storming and sometimes brain washing, and after many meetings and discussions a final draft for the event was forged which would promise every engineer two unforgettable days of his life. What followed was the immense task of publicity, sponsorship, going through every small detail again and again and last minute discussions. Be it joy, frustration, apprehension, nervousness, the team of “PRÈVOYANCE” experienced it all.

And finally, as a result or immense dedication, teamwork and continued efforts of the faculties and students alike “PRÈVOYANCE” was ready with all its sheen and shine. Then came the “D” day for us, 1st April 2005, when, from the very start of the day to the end of the next day, every moment an excitement, a vigour never seen before filled the whole atmosphere. This fest made many a record bite the dust when it saw the participation of over 500 enthusiastic students from around the country. History repeated itself and even bettered its original score on 9th March 2006 when “PRÈVOYANCE ‘06” registered over 800 competitors. “PRÈVOYANCE ‘07” was not of the types to lag behind. Taking cue from its predecessor, it witnessed an even better, overwhelming and a completely unpredictable response as myriads of entries poured in from throughout the country. “PRÈVOYANCE 07” set up new standards in techfest history. And the story obviously does not end here itself. “PRÈVOYANCE ‘08” and PRÈVOYANCE ‘09 continued the legacy of its ancestors and not only did it give the record-holders a run for their money but also re-established previously set ground rules by a host of events.

Well, History as we all know has this frequent knack of repeating itself time and again, unfolding past charismas’ for the present to behold and take inspiration from. To allow history one more chance to repeat itself and its past glories, we carry forward our vision, our foresight, and present to you “PRÈVOYANCE ’10”…..
